The day I took pain and used it to be more beautiful.

Corset

There is something I do each and every day

It is something I do for me.

Each morning I rise and dress like you

except for a layer between.

On go the bra, the panties too, socks

then pants an undershirt too.

Then I grab my favorite thing

I strap my corset up and finish with t-shirt on top.

I am sure you question my sanity at this point.

You are wondering how someone can consider a corset anything other than a torture device.

I assure you that is what I thought too. Until, one day the problems with my back got very bad.

I couldn’t walk, sit or even breathe without pain meds. I tried a chiropractor, yoga, acupressure (sorry I draw the line at acupuncture) I even did cupping. Nothing other that narcotics helped.

I know I have an addictive personality, so  the last thing I wanted was to stay on narcotics. I did have two other options, I could wear an uncomfortable brace for the rest of my life or have breast reduction (both of which are very expensive) I searched and searched and looked at braces, the traditional back brace worked some but it was hot, and slipped a lot and looked like hell. Medical custom braces were more rigid than I wanted and so expensive! I went on ebay looking for a cheaper option and I came across a corset. I bought a cheap underbust corset (since I already had bra’s and pushing my boobs up into my chin or squishing them down didn’t appeal to me)

Yes it was a whim to try a corset. It was a cheap one, I figured at least I could use it to spice up my sex life.  This one came with plastic bones and didn’t do a great job, however, it did help.

So I started searching and researching. I found some great sources online. Many were very very expensive. The ones that were sturdy were custom made and cost a fortune, (well a fortune for me! $300-500 was just out of my budget.)

And the off the rack corset companies often didn’t make plus size corsets.

I found a woman on youtube who I adore Lucy. She has some of the best tips, reviews ect. She taught me what to look for, how to measure, how to “season” a corset even what each type was called (yes there are types!) With all this knowledge I was able to purchase my 1st real corset from Orchard corset.

I picked them because they had great measurements, awesome prices and a return policy that worked for me. I bought one called the cs 411, it came in my size (btw I am a big girl but short) it was not too long, which would be a problem because my body has an hourglass shape and I searched quite a bit making sure the shape was right and not too long or too short so nothing would rub or be loose in the wrong places.

I got my corset in, I seasoned it per the instructions (wearing it a little at a time until it fit just right). I was in heaven.

All of the back pain was gone. My boobs looked great and best of all it made me feel pretty. Even though I was the only one who knew it was there.

It was one of the best decisions I ever made. Since then I have bought a few others, a couple over the bust and I keep coming back to that 1st one. It is my favorite. I now have 3 of them and I have gone down in size twice. I stopped wearing it for a while too.. and the pain came back after a couple of weeks. Within a month, it was bad enough I was back at the doctor again. I feel I proved it helps me, I justify the cost because it keeps me moving it keeps me off meds and most of all it makes me feel beautiful again. (though I have several people in my life who tell me I was beautiful even without it.)

Oh and a torture device? Nah, it is no less uncomfortable than any shapewear, and a hell of a lot easier to put on than spanx, and much nicer looking.
